In 2022, I was honored to be awarded a postdoctoral fellowship from the Engineering Living Materials Institute (ELMI) at Cornell University. ELMI is a novel institution that fosters transdisciplinary collaboration among a diverse group of researchers and domain experts, spanning various fields such as materials science, biology, plant science, robotics, and architecture. Our collective mission at ELMI is to explore cutting-edge scientific frontiers and pioneer innovative technologies that push the boundaries between science fiction and reality. In my role at ELMI, I am concentrating on developing advanced biohybrid sensors by applying electrophysiology, specifically focusing on fungal and plant sensing. These sensors hold immense promise for applications in environmental and agricultural sciences, contributing to advancing these critical fields.
